I have sold a handful of items on ebay and it's really a lot of work to make a buck. First, I have to purchase the item, but even though I bought it, ebay has the nerve to take 9% out of the selling price on top of the listing fee. I feel like either they should only get a small listing fee or a lower percentage. Then, paypal also takes about 3% of the sale. I also have to subtract shipping, which personally I charge the customer and I don't see how so many people don't charge shipping!

So to give an example, if I bought a jacket on clearance at a blowout sale for $3, and BEST CASE scenario, I sold it for $20 and got the customer to pay for shipping, then I get $20 minus 9% for ebay minus 3% for paypal minus the 60 cent listing fee from ebay, minus the $3 investment. That means for all my time and effort of buying the item, taking the perfect picture, listing the item (pretty tedious), keeping the customer happy with communication, packaging the item, spending gas money to take it to the post office, the MOST I will get is $14, but since everyone is looking for a bargain, I'll probably sell it for $9.99 and then end up with $5, and I'm getting even less for a smaller article of clothing or fashion jewelry. So I'm wondering, how do people make a living out of this?! THoughts?
I like that Craig. Not I just need to find out how I can get bargains on top brands or in bulk!
You're right Trithuc! I actually bought bulk MAC from China planning to resell on ebay. Before they shipped it I found it was fake and many people have no problem reselling fake! I fortunately canceled that purcase and got my money back! Ebay would be great if they weren't so greedy in the fees they take, considering they don't have to do much work....they probably get money just from advertising since they're so popular!

Until now, the stranger in USA offers $20,000.( Twenty Thousand Dollars Only) but it`s not clear either it is Aussie Dollars or USD.
What would you think boys and girls???

I received an Olympus digital camera.  I generally sell things on ebay but never knew how to add pictures.  Could someone tell me step by step how this is done?
Not to sound ignorant, but how do I download pictures?

I purchased a Ford Contour last year and want to sell it on Ebay. I did all the necessary steps on ebay and then put it up for auction. However when I typed in the VIN for the car it showed 2 problems. First and formost there is an odometer problem. It does not say specifically what it is, but it does say that it could be that the odometer was broken etc. The next problem it says is something about a Lien. I have never sold a vehicle via ebay before so I dont know what to make of this. I know when my father registered it, we did not have any problems. Exactly what does this information mean. I dont want to put this vehicle up for sale if it is not suitable to be sold. Thanks

I live in Canada and i have looked around it on average it takes about 8-9 dollars to just ship a little  hand bag anywhere in Canada. I really want to start selling on ebay, however with these fee's and shipping costs i would only be actually losing money. Also if anyone could recommend me a good cheap and reliable shipping service that would be great. I've been looking at canada posts expedited parcel and letter mail, but have found that the letter mail does not suits my purpose and the expedited parcel is too expensive. I have also found that there is a 25% discount currently offered by ebay and canada post on the expedited parcel, but i am unclear of the terms and conditions. If someone could explain some of that i would be truely thankful.

It depends on the "extras" you add to the basic listing. If you don't add any options, the fee is $125 when the vehicle sells.
